When you think of making changes in your eating or trying to reach a new goal, do you feel safe?
It’s probably a question you have never asked yourself 😉. And yet, it is very important.
Change, inherently, is scary.
It is normal for your brain to freak out a little when you want to make changes to long time habits.
The problem we often run into is just trying to force ourselves to make the change anyways.
It feels hard. It can feel scary. And it often doesn’t stick.
You are much better off if you learn skills to bring a feeling of safety into your weight loss.
Bigger and more lasting change happens with less work when you make the change from a place of feeling calm and safe.
So how do you do this while running around the hospital trying to keep up with seeing your patients? Start by listening to this week’s episode of the Thriving As A Physician Podcast below.

Always have your own back.
Practice ways of calming yourself that don’t involve food and that leave you feeling better off than when you started.
And when it seems like things aren’t working, don’t immediately try to change things. Step back and create some safety for yourself first and then problem solve.
