So many physicians I have been talking to are feeling burnt out and crispy around the edges.

Living through a pandemic is hard.

Working in a system that is under significant strain due to the pandemic is hard.

Balancing being a human and a physician who cares for other humans is hard.

As physicians, we have a great capacity to push ourselves hard and keep going. But at some point that takes a toll on us.

So take this moment as an opportunity to check in with yourself…

… How are you doing?
….How are you really doing?
… What do you need right now?

That last question can be a hard one to answer if you are feeling really burnt out.

You may have lost touch with knowing what you need or what could possibly help you feel better.

And that’s ok.

But start somewhere.

It’s ok if the first things you try don’t seem to help.

You are worth it to keep going. Keep trying things.

Keep asking yourself “What do I need right now” and be willing to listen to the answers.

I had a fantastic conversation about post-pandemic burnout with Dr. Errin Weismann (From Burnt Out to Badass) this week on the podcast.

We shared a lot of practical strategies to start getting your feet under you and recovering from burnout.

And we shared tips about preventing burnout in the first place.

Errin Weisman, DO is a physician life coach, podcaster and fierce advocate for wellness in medicine. She is the host of the Doctor Me First podcast and From Burntout to Badass. You can connect with Dr. Errin Weisman at www.doctormefirst.com

Whether you are crispy around the edges right now or just want to prevent getting burnt out, be sure to listen to this week’s podcast episode.
