Can we all just let go of the belief that being a doctor *should* magically make it easier to lose weight??
This is one of the most common (and harmful) beliefs I hear from physicians.
Our medical training taught us lots of helpful and amazing things.
But it also embedded a lot of patterns in how you work and live your life that make it harder to do the things you know you *should* do to stay healthy.
So you end up talking about health all day, counseling patients on healthy behaviours but then find yourself reaching into the bag of chips your partner is eating beside you (even though you know you aren’t hungry)
If you have ever beat yourself up about things like this or called yourself a fraud… Please stop. It won’t get you anywhere.
Help is here in this week’s podcast episode. Give it a listen on your favourite platform or listen at the end of this post.
There are real reasons why it is hard for doctors to lose weight.
That shame you have been carrying around is misplaced.
The path forward is learning about the underlying drivers that make it hard to not snack at 3pm when you would prefer to do anything but finish your daysheet.
Once you understand the drivers, you can make changes that take less effort and have bigger impacts (and are easier to maintain on those really busy days).
I’m sharing my tips for all of this 👆on the podcast this week. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts.
