Welcome to the Un-Episode. As physicians, we are usually our toughest bosses. It is so easy to keep working…to just keep trying to get the work done.
But what would happen if you just said no? And, what if you let it be easy?
I’m sharing with you the active work that I do in my own life to manage how I feel and to manage my own stress in the simplest ways, so that I feel my best and don’t get overwhelmed.
I have been so busy that I haven’t had time to record this week’s podcast episode. And I could just make myself sit down, plan a whole episode, write it out, record it and stress myself out about getting it done it time to send it to the editor and still get it back in time.
Or, I could say no and just let it go.
And that is exactly what I decided to do.
Just by making this decision I could feel my level of stress come down immediately. Allowing myself to let go of this stress and overwhelm helps me feel more in control around my eating.
Here’s my challenge to you this week – think about the places in your own life where you could let the stress come down. Where could you reduce the amount of overwhelm that you feel in your days, just by making the decision to let something go?
Maybe it’s saying no to a meeting that you don’t really need to be at. Maybe you make a list of all the things you think you need to do, and then make the choice say no to yourself and cross something off. Contemplate this in your own life and then notice how it impacts your eating.
Listen to the Un-Episode below to hear more about this useful non-food intervention that can really impact your eating.
