The New Year often brings a wave of motivation to focus on our health goals. But let’s be honest, it doesn’t last very long.

Around now, those fresh new habits can be looking a little tarnished.

Maybe you’ve found yourself reaching for junk food after a busy shift again…

Or hitting snooze instead of getting up for that morning workout…

Or maybe you’re reaching for extra snacks in the evening and convincing yourself your goal doesn’t matter that much.

And the worst part? The guilt from feeling like you’ve failed.

But here’s some truth: You haven’t failed. Not even close.

Throwing in the towel now means moving further from those goals that truly matter to you.

You can reach your goals (even the big and scary ones). They may just need a bit of tweaking to set you up for success.

This week on the podcast, I’m talking about how to maintain momentum when that New Year’s sparkle starts to fade.

Remember, nothing has gone wrong. Every bump in the road is a chance to learn, adjust and keep going.

This is what every successful weight loss journey looks like – trying, stumbling, learning, and starting again.

So, if you’re feeling your New Year’s motivation fading, here’s what to do:

  • Reflect on your goal. If it doesn’t feel good anymore, don’t force it. Make adjustments so it feels really good again
  • Learn from your experiences. Instead of judging, get curious. Why didn’t it work? Adjust your approach accordingly.
  • Find fresh inspiration. Look for something that truly excites you and will keep you motivated throughout the year.

I share all the details about how to do this in this week’s Thriving As A Physician podcast episode. Don’t miss this one.
